Roquemissou (Montrozier, Averyon)

Discovered in 1978 by Pierre-Marie Blanquet, an amateur archaeologist, the site of Roquemissou lies at the foot of a long cliff that borders the Aveyron. First excavations were carried out there from 1984 to 1991 by Gaston-Bernard Arnal (CNRS). Since 2012, research has resumed under the direction of Thomas Perrin, CNRS researcher. The work shows the presence of repeated occupations from the Azilian (~11,500 BCE), then throughout the Mesolithic and Neolithic, up to around 2,900 BC.
